The June 2024 Brief on Food Inflation by the Bureau for Food and Agricultural Policy (BFAP) indicates that poultry prices for Individually Quick Frozen (IQF) pieces has remained on a downward trend in 2024 following the high prices experienced during late 2023’s Avian Influenza outbreak.
Year-on-year IQF prices have dropped by 14.0% in June 2024 as a result of stronger production, weak consumer spending and a slightly stronger Rand, which reduces the cost of imported products.
Month-on month poultry prices have seen a decrease of 2.0% due to the large supply from Brazil.
